M.B. Al-Rahim is a sound designer, foley artist, and electronic musician based out of London and New York. Across a wide range of podcast, film, and commercial projects, Al-Rahim creates sonic environments that challenge and expand the boundaries of the auditory landscape. Fueled by a collaborative ethos and a meticulous attention to detail, Al-Rahim brings an interdisciplinary approach to every production, combining research-driven methodologies, original field recordings, and bespoke electroacoustic techniques to create innovative soundscapes for today’s contemporary listeners.
Originally self-taught, Al-Rahim worked as a podcast and radio producer for companies such as BOMB Magazine and Complex Media, where he quickly developed a penchant for the technical end of production. His innate curiosity, emphasis on exemplary client communications, and agile problem-solving prowess drew him deeper into sound design for the moving image, securing a position at One Thousand Birds as an audio engineer and mixer for commercial and film. Al-Rahim thrived in this fast-paced work environment, finding work for advertising and cinema equally exciting and rewarding, and crucial to developing his own freelance studio.
Al-Rahim’s philosophy of sound is rooted in both conceptual rigor and crystalline precision creating pristine balances, textures, and spatial relationships that are thought-provoking, ear-tingling, and intricately layered, that allow audiences to move effortlessly through the depth and complexity of his compositions. Understanding that sound is both deeply personal and often challenging to articulate, Al-Rahim has developed a singularly intuitive framework for client collaboration, cultivating a studio practice that is as much about emotional attunement as it is technical excellence.
Al-Rahim’s studio offers a comprehensive suite of sound design, consulting, and post-production services, from dialogue editing and SFX to re-recording mixing, scoring, and foley. Past clients and collaborators include Calvin Klein, Samsung, Johnnie Walker, and Chanel.
